The Stable Isotope Laboratory in Institute of Earth Environment, CAS conducts research on the isotope geochemistry in natural process and human activities, and the stable isotope tracing in environmental change. Currently, our researches focus on the biogeochemistry cycles (C, N, O, and H), the mechanism of isotopic fractionations and the tracing applications for environmental change in terrestrial ecosystems, river ecosystems and modern lacustrine environment.

The Stable Isotope Laboratory now have 5 isotope-ratio mass spectrometers to support a wide range of analytical and sample preparation, and provide isotopic analytical service to geological scientists and institutions around the world,
