Laboratory of Earth Surface Processes and Chemical Weathering
Earth Surface Processes and Chemical Weathering Laboratory, affiliated with the Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IEECAS), is directed by Professor Zhangdong Jin. Through high-resolution analyses and tracing of radioactive and non-traditional stable isotopes of sediments and biogenic shells, the team continually aims at:
(1) systemically assessing single catchment erosion and weathering processes and its response to (paleo-)climatic changes at various settings;
(2) better understanding surface geochemical processes and its effects on ecological environment over different time scales;
(3) probing the relationship among catchment weathering-erosion and monsoon evolution, inland aridification and mountain uplift at various spatio-temporal scales;
(4) cognizing global terrestrial environmental changes and its dynamics since the late Cenozoic.
