Brief introduction to the speaker: 

Liangcheng Tan is an Associate Professor in Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also an editor of Scientific Reports and vice-chairman of the council of China Youth Geoscientist Forum. He obtained his PhD degrees in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009. His recent researches focus on Asian monsoon and Westerlies changes by using high-resolution speleothem and historical document records. He is also interested in the relationship between Holocene climate change and culture dynamics. Currently, he is leading some projects in studying past hydrological changes in different regions of China, tropical southeast Asia, central Asia and the  Great plain of North America. Some of his research were published in Climate Dynamics, Quaternary Science Reviews, Scientific Reports, Quaternary Research, Holocene, Climate of Past, and received broaden media coverage by BBC, The Independent,News Week, New York Times, Beijing Daily, etc.
