CSP Institute of Aerosol Science and Technology and the China Chapter of Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) co-held the “3rd Airborne Fine and Ultrafine Particle Technical Workshop" on April 13, 2009 at Report Hall on the second floor of IEECAS. This meeting invited the world’s leading scientists Prof. John Watson and Prof. Judith Chow from U.S. Desert Research Institute (DRI), as well as Prof. Lee Shun-cheng from Hong Kong Polytechnic University to give presentations on specialised subjects. Other specialists and scholars from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Nankai University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Xiamen University, Nanchang University, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology in all more than 40 people participated in the workshop.
Prof. Judith Chow did a presentation on "Progress in Ambient Air Monitoring", and Prof. John Watson, lectured on "Methods to Assess Carbonaceous Aerosol Sampling Artifacts for Long-Term Networks", Prof. Li Shun-cheng gave a presentation on "Indoor Air Pollution Research". Participants had a warm discussion on the current hot topics of airborne fine and ultrafine particle study. Prof. John Watson also added some tips on writing SCI papers. The workshop not only gave us further understandings and awareness of airborne fine and ultrafine particles, but also inspired us by the latest research achievements and promoted China’s research in related fields.
