The 10th East Eurasia International Workshop on present earth surface processes and long-term environmental changes in East Eurasia was held from 7-12th October, 2013 in Gwangju, Korea. The purpose of the East Eurasia International Workshop is to exchange information on present earth surface processes and long-term environmental changes in East Eurasia for sustainable Earth and establishing mutual understanding on earth environment, especially in East Eurasia. Prof. Zhisheng An gave the opening speech confirming that the studies on present earth surface processes and long-term environmental changes in East Eurasia are the one of most active, pioneering and fruitful research fields and the workshop provides good opportunities for exchanging research achievements and establishing scientific cooperation among scientists. Prof. Weijian Zhou gave the presentation titled “Paleoprecipitation reconstruction on the Chinese Loess Plateau using 10Be”.
Prof. Yougui Song, Prof. Xiaoke Qiang and Senior Engineer Xinzhou Li introduced the Scientific Drilling at Lake Qinghai, the Paleo-records over the Chinese Loess Plateau and the latest research results of the transient simulations of Asian monsoons, respectively. The following abstracts and posters were submitted: 1. Clay minerals Assemblage of Erlangjian core in Qinghai Lake and its paleoenvironmental significance;2. The Remagnetization in Gulang Loess from the Northwestern of the Chinese Loess Plateau;3. Transient Simulation of Orbital-scale Precipitation Variation in Monsoonal East Asia and Arid Central Asia during the Last 150ka. The comparison between the long-term transient simulation results and the stalagmite oxygen isotope record over Central Asia performed by Senior Engineer Xinzhou Li and Prof. Xiaodong Liu obtained wide attentions and approvals.
