The The 4th TSI Aerosol Seminar was held in IEECAS on May 6, 2014. Prof Richard C. Flagan from California Institute of Technology was invited to give an impressive talk Measurements to Quantify Health Effects of Particulate Pollutionfor the seminar.

Beginning in the 1970s measurements of particulate air pollution shifted from attempts to quantify the total mass of particulate matter in the air to measurements of fine particles as represented by PM2.5.  Health effects studies support this shift, but recent data suggest that additional detail within this important size range might be helpful in understanding the links between air quality and human health.  This seminar was briefly discussing the measurements that are presently possible, and ways that research measurements may enhance the understanding gained from compliance measurements of particulate pollution.
