In the 102nd annual conference of International Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA) held in Detroit, US on June 15-19, 2009, our Institute’s Cao Junji was elected Chairman of the Technical Committee of Ambient Monitoring of the Association, with office term of three years and being responsible for handling affairs of research, technology and management of ambient monitoring in the Association, making Mr. Cao the first scientist of China to hold the post.

　　Before that, Research Fellow Cao Junji held the post of Chairman of China Branch, A&WMA from last October to be responsible for preparation of the China Branch. In the Detroit annual conference, Research Fellow Cao Junji, representing China Branch, officially won the right to hold the first A&WMA China annual academic conference in Xi’an in May 2010 in Xi’an, which will play very important role for China’s air pollution research and technical research and development to gear to international circle in the field. The notice on the 2010 Xi’an annual conference is shown as the annex.

　　The International Air and Waste Management Association is the largest association of environment science in the world at present. Over the 100 years since its establishment, the Association has always devoted itself to environmental protection, improving research and development of air pollution control technology and waste management level, leading and promoting exchange of scientific research, industrial development and technical control in the field. A&WMA, boasting more than 9,000 members in 65 countries in the world, is a globally leading association in research of air pollution.
